The course Elementary Maths for GMT provides an overview of basic mathematics, and their relation to games and media technology. It covers most of the necessary high school and undergraduate maths that is essential for GMT. Check the website for a complete list of topics covered.

Students coming from a Dutch HBO or students coming from a bachelor program that makes relatively little use of mathematics are especially advised to take this course. Students with a science bachelor degree from Utrecht University need special permission to take this course for credits.

Literature:May change!

We will use these online course notes. Exercises and solutions are provided on the accompanying website.

Exam form:

Homework assignments during the course, plus a written exam at the end.

The final grade is the average of the homework grade and exam grade, rounded to the nearest half point. Since no half points below 6 can be given: if the grade after rounding is smaller than 6, the grade is truncated to its integer part.

Minimum effort to qualify for 2nd chance exam:To qualify for the retake exam, the grade of the original must be at least 4.
