measurement is the field concerned with the collection and interpretation of empirical data about all aspects of software development, from cost estimation during requirements definition, to code size and complexity measurement during or after coding, and process measurement to keep a tab on project progress. The goal is
to understand and improve the development process in order to reduce costs and defects and
increase productivity.
