Title: Comparing Mason to other plagiarism detectors
Abstract
Plagiarism is one of the most serious academic offences. It is, however, also one of the easiest to commit. The internet allows students to easily search for and copy work of others. This has made the amount of confirmed cases of plagiarism sky rocket during the last decade. This has allowed a large number of plagiarism detection tools to be developed. We have decided to develop our own tools at the University Utrecht. On of these tools is Mason which allows teachers to compare articles submitted by students to sources on the internet. In this talk we will compare to other both commercially available and academic tools.
