Online Package Base
Merijn
Description
The Online Package Base is a collection of Open Source software packages developed at several different institutes. These packages are combined to form self-contained software
bundles using a technique called
SourceTreeComposition.
To obtain software from the Online Package Base, you first select one or more software
packages. Then you press the ``bundle'' butten. This will generate a self-contained
software bundle with the packages you selected and those that are required by them. In order to build the generated bundle, the
README file that is contained in the generated bundle should be consulted for instructions about the easy three-step installation procedure.
The advantage of software bundles is that they can be managed as a unit (i.e, the ingredients of a bundle can be distributed, build, and installed as a unit rather than individually). This improves software
reusability, because it limits the complexity of software
deployment activities, even when many software artefacts are used.
