Contents:

In this seminar we study a couple of programming environments. Proxima is the result of the Ph.D. research of Martijn Schrage, the LRC is the result of earlier work by Matthijs Kuiper, Harald Vogt, Maarten Pennings and Joao Saraiva. Besides this we will take a look at the Eclipse environment

Course form:

We will jointly read papers and chapters of theses, whereas we will also prepare some demonstrations. Students will have to do a small project using one of the the tools discussed, and will present the result of their projects in one of the last sessions.

Students are expected to be fluent in Haskell and Java.

Exam form:

We expect active participation from all participants. This implies that you have read the material that was handed out, you prepare questions about what you have studied. In some cases we may ask you to prepare a question to be answered by the whole group.

Also, after we have studied a specific paper, we will give you homework, to be handed in at the next lecture.

Your final mark will be synthesized from:

* the final exam (30%) * your project (30%) * your participation (20%) * your homework (20%)

Minimum effort to qualify for 2nd chance exam:

Since this is a seminar there will be no second chance.
