%TOC% IFIP WG2.1 has continuing responsibility for [[http://wombat.doc.ic.ac.uk/foldoc/foldoc.cgi?ALGOL][Algol 60]] and [[http://wombat.doc.ic.ac.uk/foldoc/foldoc.cgi?ALGOL+68][Algol 68]]. This page collects some information about those languages. ---++ Algol Bulletin [[mailto:brian.wichmann@bcs.org.uk][Brian Wichmann]] has digitized back issues of _The Algol Bulletin_. He requests: <blockquote> I am trying to contact authors of papers that have appeared in The Algol Bulletin, as I am starting to produce an electronic version and need to get the authors' permission to reproduce their copyright material digitally. If you contributed to _The Algol Bulletin_, please contact me at [[mailto:Brian.Wichmann@bcs.org.uk][Brian.Wichmann@bcs.org.uk]] or c/o Peta Walmisley, British Computer Society, 7 Mansfield Mews, London !W1G 9NJ. </blockquote> The whole archive is now freely available at the [[http://archive.computerhistory.org/resources/text/algol/algol_bulletin/][Computer History Museum]]. It is also accessible through the [[http://portal.acm.org/browse_dl.cfm?idx=J33][ACM Digital Library]], who provide PDF documents of the many articles; but to access this resource you need to be an ACM DL subscriber (or create a free ACM account). ---++ Language reports N. Landsteiner of Mass:Werk in Austria has converted the Algol 60 [[http://www.masswerk.at/algol60/report.htm][Revised Report]] and [[http://www.masswerk.at/algol60/modified_report.htm][Modified Report]] to HTML. [[mailto:klokew@acm.org][W. B. Kloke]] of The University of Dortmund has converted the [[http://vestein.arb-phys.uni-dortmund.de/~wb/RR/rr.html][Revised Report on the Algorithmic Language ALGOL 68]] to HTML (and also to [[http://vestein.arb-phys.uni-dortmund.de/~wb/RR/rr.pdf][pdf]] and [[http://vestein.arb-phys.uni-dortmund.de/~wb/RR/][TeX]]). (In case these links are broken, there is a copy of the HTML version at [[http://burks.bton.ac.uk/burks/language/other/a68rr/rr.htm][BURKS]].) A "completed and corrected" version of Kloke's HTML conversion is available at the [[http://jmvdveer.home.xs4all.nl/report.html][Algol 68 Genie]] site; Algol 68 Genie is a GNU GPL'ed implementation of Algol 68 for Windows, Linux, and Mac. ---++ Other resources Wikipedia has quote a lot of information about the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ALGOL][Algol family of languages]], with pages specific to [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ALGOL_60][Algol 60]] and [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ALGOL_68][Algol 68]]. The [[http://dmoz.org/][Open Directory Project]] maintains a page about [[http://dmoz.org/Computers/Programming/Languages/Algol_60/][Algol 60]] and another about [[http://dmoz.org/Computers/Programming/Languages/Algol_68/][Algol 68]]. [[http://www.mcjones.org/paul/][Paul McJones]] of the [[http://www.computerhistory.org/groups/spg/][Software Preservation Group]] at the [[http://www.computerhistory.org/][Computer History Museum]] maintains a collection of resources about [[http://www.softwarepreservation.org/projects/ALGOL/][Algol 58, Algol 60, and Algol 68]]. [[http://www.fh-jena.de/~kleine/][Karl Kleine]] maintains a web page about [[http://www.fh-jena.de/~kleine/history][historic documents in computer science]], which includes some information on Algol 68. [[mailto:greg@algol68.org][Greg Nunan]] owns the domain name [[http://www.algol68.org/][algol68.org]], and maintains there a collection of Algol 68 resources. The [[http://ershov.iis.nsk.su/english/prj.asp][Ershov archives]] contain a lot of [[http://ershov.iis.nsk.su/archive/eaindex.asp?lang=2&gid=857][Algol 68 and IFIP WG 2.1 related material]]. -- Main.JeremyGibbons - 09 Jul 2012
