Getting Help

FP
We are dedicated to help you pass this course. This page is intended to help you get the most out of the help we and others can provide you.

Your first place to get help are the pages on this wiki. They provide you with ample documentation on the course and on Haskell.

Next, you can always contact the teachers and teaching assistants. They are present at the course's contact hours, and may be e-mailed outside these hours.

You have other options. Foremost of these is the reading material linked to from this wiki. The Tour of the Haskell Prelude is very useful. Hoogle lets you search for functions by name or by type, and provides links from the result to the documentation for these functions. Trying these may give you an answer faster than contacting the teachers, especially outside of working hours.

Almost anything you might want to know about Haskell can be found by perusing the Haskell webpages. The sheer wealth of information in these pages can be overwhelming, but browsing through is well worth the effort.

Finally, as a last recourse, you can ask questions on the Haskell Mailing Lists, or the Haskell Internet Relay Chat channels. The people in the Haskell community tend to be very friendly and open towards newcomers and students, helping where they can. We advise you to read this page on homework help if you intend to do so. The text is somewhat brutal, but following its advice may lead to you getting an answer you understand rather than getting an answer your teachers might have trouble to decipher.

We hope you will use these methods, preferably in the order presented here. The earlier in your search for help you get the answer you desire, the less work it will have been for you and everyone trying to help you, and the more pleased you will be with your result.
