To compile the game the following programs must be installed and configured correctly on your machine:
- GHC 6.8.1
- Data.Binary package for Haskell
Compiling the game
Unpack the source files and from the location where you extracted the files run ghc -O2 --make Main.hs
Run the game
Call or double click the executable file created by the compilation process.
Hackell is a rogue like game. As a player your mission is to survive as long as you can in the dungeon. Your only mission objective is: Stay alive and get farther than anyone else ever did in this game. Beware for monsters that live in the dungeon, they haven’t eaten in a long time and are likely to try and eat you alive, the deeper you get in the dungeon the more hungry the monsters are, so beware…
As all mortal souls on this planet you will have to eat. Each step you take in the world Hackell will cost you one food point, when you run out of food you will eventually die of starvation. There is food scattered throughout the dungeon, it is probably rotten as the monsters didn’t eat it.
There are three sorts of monsters that live in the dungeon, the stupid kind will only attack you when you are right besides them. But there are also more developed monsters, that come directly add you when they hear you, or monsters that chase you because of the awful smell your spreading…
The screen consists of two parts, the map (the top part), and some information concerning your health at the bottom, also some controls are found at the bottom. By clicking save and load one can save the game. This will also be done automatically when the game is closed. The checkboxes allow you to enable cheats.

The unexplored world and the massive rock is coloured brown. The part of the world you can see is green. And walls you can see are orange. The unexplored world that you currently can’t see is covered with shadow and coloured dark green.
Player Movement and Attacking

All movement controls also function as attack control if a monster is at the location directed to
