|Contents:||After this course the student should:
A software product is defined as a packaged configuration of software components or a software-based service with auxiliary materials, which is released for and traded in a specific market.
In this course the creation, production and organization of product software will be discussed and elaborated in depth:
After the course the students can continue working on the product in the Utrecht student software incubator, called Netherware, see www.netherware.nl. Netherware provides product and business coaching, access to the financial network, and the possibility to perform a master thesis project on your own product.
The aim of this course is to create a prototype and business plan for a novel software product. Students can join the course either with a product idea or without. In both cases your participation in the course must be formally approved. To get approval send your product idea or your willingness to participate in a product to both Sjaak Brinkkemper (S.Brinkkemper@uu.nl) and Ioanna Lykourentzou (email@example.com). After you have become part of an approved product team your application to the course will be finalized.
Please note: after subscription to this course you will be put on a waiting list. Once your product idea and team have been approved you will be allowed into the course.
Please also note: Students can only join if they have at least obtained 22,5 ECTS within the MBI, so no first-semester students please.

|Course form:||This course is run in the virtual software company Netherware. The students form teams around their own product idea, and produce a design and a prototype of the product or service. The students also play a horizontal role in Netherware: Finance, Project Office, Human Resource Management, Technology, Marketing, and Investor Relations. |
The Netherware company is running during 12 hours of the week; 4 on Wednesday and 8 on Friday. In this time the following activities take place:
|Exam form:||The course is run as a project, where several deliverables have to be produced. |
The course grade is a weighted average of the grades for the deliverables and the presentation. Any activity graded below 6 is to be repeated.
This course can be finished with honors. To do that, students need to show that they can go beyond the call of duty when it comes to the regular assignments (good grades aren't enough). To pass with honors, students need to find their own expert to support them in the business. Furthermore, they need to participate in an external entrepreneurship contest and attend an entrepreneurship event.
|Minimum effort to qualify for 2nd chance exam:||To qualify for the retake exam, the grade of the original must be at least 4.|
