| Contents: | The goal of the experimentation project is to let students learn how to set up and carry out algorithmic experiments, and how to evaluate and report the results. Experimental research requires a methodological approach: research goals and hypotheses need to be defined unambiguously, experiments need to be designed in a goal-oriented way, experimental results should be statistically significant, and conclusions must be well-justified.
|
| Course form: | The experimentation project is usually carried out internally at one of the chairs that participate in the Computing Science Master program, but may also be done in an external research lab or in a company. In either case, students have to choose a supervisor from within Computing Science. The project can be done in one period half time (= 7.5 ECTS), one period full time (= 15 ECTS), or two consecutive periods half time (= 15 ECTS). |
