Contents:The analysis of geographic data can take many forms. This includes spatial interpolation, geographic data mining, spatial clustering, spatio-temporal analysis, point pattern analysis, and terrain analysis. We will examine these analysis types more closely. Note: a prerequisite is the course on GIS! Also note that the maximum participation is 8.
Literature:David O'Sullivan and David Unwin, Geographic Information Analysis, Wiley, 2002. A copy of this book will be available for reference in the Infotheek. Scientific papers and book chapters from other books will be used as well.
Course form:The course is given as a seminar in which the participants give 2 or 3 presentations. Furthermore, some self-study in the form of reading a few book chapters is expected.Participants will also get a literature review and writing assignment.
Exam form:No written exam, the final mark is based on the presentations given, presence and participation at all presentations, and the written assignment.
Minimum effort to qualify for 2nd chance exam:Om aan de aanvullende toets te mogen meedoen is ontbreken van ten hoogte 1 toetsactiviteit toegestaan.
