Inhoud:This is a two period course, stretching from period 3 (4 ECTS) to period 4 (3.5 ECTS) of the academic year 2010/2011. This course was formerly known as: Summerschool Slovenia.

- E-business and BPM concepts
- Hands-on E-sourcing
- Presentation of experiences regarding e-sourcing at a workshop of the Bled eConference (www.bledconference.nl) in Slovenia
- World-Class Purchasing 2.0: a new assessment tool for procurement maturity

- Design and prototyping of an innovative e-business/bpm concept
- Presentation of concept and prototype as poster presentation at the Bled eConference
- Sponsor finding for attending the conference
- Preparation of Bled conference trip

Werkvorm:The number of students able to attend this seminar is limited. Students interested in this course should write a motivation letter in which to mention at least their:
- attitude towards e-business, bpm and web 2.0
- attitude of entrepreneurship and creativeness
- ideas for attrackting sponsors
- experience and ability to work in teams with fellow students (from different backgrounds and levels)
- international attitude

Selected students will participate in:
- seperate workshops
- Bled eConference attending
- World Class Purchasing 2.0 testing
- Presentation to an e-sourcing vendor

Toetsvorm:Grade determined by: 1) attendance of workshops 2) quality of poster presentation 3) prototype (design, technical complexity, innovativeness, relation to e-business, revenue/business model)
Inspanningsverplichting voor aanvullende toets:Om aan de aanvullende toets te mogen meedoen moet de oorspronkelijke uitslag minstens 4 zijn.
Beschrijving:Seminar Advances in e-business is a two-period course (7.5 ECTS in total) that goes beyond traditional lecturing. In workshops e-business and bpm details will be discussed; in cooperation with a consultancy firm, a newly developed procurement assessment tool will be validated. Moreover, practical experience with a specific e-business tool (E-sourcing tool) will be practiced. Finally an idea for e-business/bpm innovative software will be worked out into a prototype that will be presented at the so-called Rene W. Wagenaar Student Bazaar of the Bled eConference in Slovenia (www.bledconference.nl).

Creativity is an essential competence for students applying for this course.

Space is limited in this course, and as a consequence students are asked, when registering for this course, to write a motivation letter to jversend@cs.uu.nl. Please send such a letter before 1 February 2011. In this letter, please mention at least:
