Inhoud:

Information Science deals with information systems in the large and is based on an understanding of information systems as the interplay between humans and technological components in distributed contexts. In order to assess characteristics of such systems, a differentiated terminology and specialized modeling techniques, as well as an understanding of universal technological instruments for integration are needed.

The course “Architectures of Digital Ecosystems” sheds light on the assessment of large information systems from multiple conceptual angles and on different levels of granularity. As a central learning objective, participants will be provided with a differentiated conceptual apparatus to assess characteristics of distributed information systems and to reason about the quality, economic value, and ethical implications of different architectural alternatives and implementation techniques of information systems.

The course topics are:
  • Value modeling
  • Enterprise architecture modeling
  • Multi-level conceptual modeling
  • Supply chain and e-commerce architectures
  • Integration technologies
  • Assessment of integration quality

In the tutorial part of the course, approaches for modeling and implementing integrated distributed systems will be applied by the participants in practical case-studies.

The lectures will take place in MS Teams, the tutorials will be held in Gather. All course participants will be invited to the Teams class and receive access credentials to Gather before the first sessions. Communication and exchange of course material will be done via Teams, Blackboard will exclusively be used to communicate the final grades.
