Course Format

This master course combines presentations, discusssions and practical work.It challenges participants to acquire and disseminate knowledge about a complex subject in a way that is very common to highly skilled "knowledge workers". The lecturers have made a pre-selection of relevant books, articles and web references (see literature). Besides an introduction of each topic, the role of the lectures is that of moderator.

During the course the participants will study that material, discuss and present it jointly, in order to share the newly acquired insights (see schedule). Attendance of all meetings is mandatory and active participation on the meetings will be evaluated as part of the final grade.

Format of each week's meeting is:

  1. Short discussion on the mandatory material lead by a group of students (20 minutes)
  2. Presentation on the topic (40 minutes)
  3. Discussion on the presentation (20 minutes)
  1. Demo / Tutorial / Presentation of SW application (30 minutes)
  2. Practical assignment (60 minutes)

Before each meeting, all participants are required to read the material indicated for each topic (minimally the material marked with "all").

The group in charge of the week's topic should study all indicated material and prepare questions for the discussion.

In parallel to the meetings, students will work, in groups of 2, on a development project (see project)
