The first group for inspection of the mid term results is invited to come to BBG 563 on Tuesday 24 October, 13:15. This concerns all students who requested inspection before today, 16:00, and who do not have an individual appointment.
A new version of lab 4 has been uploaded. There was a minor error in the previous one.
If you want to take a look at your mid term results, send an email to Hans with the subject "MSO inzage" (literally please), your student number and your name. You will receive an invitation for a date/time/place. I will create time slots for groups of about ten students.
Suppose your mid term score was below 4.0. What to do?
You can continue attending the course. In November, your final overall score will be calculated. If this score is at least 4 (or AANV), then you may do the retake. This retake is offered in three versions: mid term only, final only or combined.
About the mid term: as always with MC exams, there is a risk of interpretation issues.
I have decided that for the six requirements questions, you needed five correct ones for a full score.
Besides that, the standard rules for guess correction were applied.
I grilled some guinea pigs on the four questions concerning the Bridge pattern. There was no need for guess correction here, but three binary questions instead of one multiple answer question would have suited better. Two correct ones were enough for the 12 points. In case of better scores, small bonuses were given.
For some very odd reason, Remindo does not require your student number on the paper version of the answer sheet. I expect that you will be able to identify yourself on the bottom of the list.
Instructions concerning "inzage" will appear soon.
54,5% scored at least 5,5; 73% scored at least 5.0.
Mid term: data entry and first calculations are done, but ... I still have to add the submissions on paper, and I want to do a per question analysis before determining the final grades. Grades are expected to be published tomorrow.
Reminder: no classes, no labs on Thursday October 5.
No cheat sheet allowed during the exams (neither mid term nor final)
My standard rule for using your laptop during classroom sessions has not yet been implemented for this course. The rule was "if you want to use your laptop, then take place in the last eight rows in the classroom". Changing the rules during the course is not very sympathetic, but I would highly appreciate if you keep this rule, primarily for your fellow students.
Although the classes and labs are formally qualified as mandatory, you do not have to inform me/us if you are missing one for some good reason.
The first lab sessions (practicum) will be on Thursday September 14.
The first lecture will be on Monday September 11.
When there are issues with "inschrijving", do not email the teachers. They cannot help you with that. Please contact the student desk.
Always, always, always mention your student number when emailing.
