INFOMMMI: Multimodal Interaction

Lecturers: Wolfgang Hürst (WWW, Email), Peter Werkhoven (WWW, Email)

News | Description | Schedule | Lectures part 1 & part 2 | Practicals part 1 & part 2

PRACTICALS (PART II): MULTIMODAL INTERACTION PROJECT

In the second part of this course, students will implement a project (e.g. a game) that uses multimodal interaction (e.g. speech or vision-based gesture input) and demonstrates the advantages of multimodality. Although the second part of the lectures mainly focuses on multimodal interaction with mobile devices (phones and tablets), the project does not necessarily have to be related to mobiles. Other multimodal interaction technologies can be used as well (e.g. Kinect or Webcam-based gesture interaction, speech input for PCs, etc.). Projects will be done in small groups (depending on the amount of students individual projects might be possible, but this can not be guaranteed at this time).

In addition, you will participate in some user studies performed by some of your fellow GMT students doing master theses and experimentation projects that are related to the course's topic.
