GRADING Programming assignments: Both programming assignments count 1/2 towards the total programming grade: P = (P1 + P2) / 2. P must be at least 5.0 to pass the course. Exams: Each exam counts for 1/2 towards your total grade for the exams: T = (T1 + T2) / 2. T must be at least 5.0 to pass the course. Final grade: If both T (= the grade for the written exams) and P (= the programming grade) are at least 5.0, the final grade for the course is (2T + P) / 3. Your final grade must be at least 6 to pass the course. RETAKES AND REQUIREMENTS Retake: There will be two make-up tests Tm1 and Tm2 which can replace T1 and T2, respectively, but only if you handed in both programming assignments, took part in both written exams, and your final grade for the course is at least 4.0. It is up to you if you want to take Tm1, Tm2, or both of them. However, be aware that you can only replace T1 with Tm1 and T2 with Tm2. Tm1 will mainly cover the content of lectures 1-5, Tm2 will focus on the material of lectures 6-12. Programming assignments: If you failed the programming assigments, you may do an additional assignment, provided that you handed in both programming assignments, took part in both written exams, and your final grade for the course is at least 4.0. The grade of the additional assignment (P3) replaces the lower of the two grades P1 and P2. Exceptions: No rules without exceptions. If you didn't participate in either the midterm or the endterm exam for a good reason and informed us about this before the exam(!!!) you can take the retake of the exam you missed. In all other cases, it is up to us to decide if we make an exception or not. That is, if you do not match the requirements specified above (e.g. your final grade was just 3.5) but you feel confident that you can pass this course by participating in the retake, we might make an exception based on your reasons and overall performance. Please be aware, that your chances to get such an exception increase, the earlier you contact us. |
